Advice and Advocacy Worker, Arabic Speaker
Working Hours: 14 hours per week
Salary: £11,510 p/a (including OLW); full time equivalent £28,775 p/a
We are looking for an enthusiastic adviser to join our expert team delivering advice to refugees and asylum seekers in our offices in Kingston upon Thames. You will be providing advice during our busy drop-in sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays, on a range of issues, including welfare benefits, housing, access to health and education.
A minimum of one year’s recent experience of working as an adviser is needed (paid or voluntary), with a good working knowledge of welfare benefits, housing regulations and entitlements to access to health for refugees and asylum seekers. You must be a quick learner, an excellent communicator with the ability to work in a sometimes pressured environment and have a passion for helping refuges and asylum seekers.
You will be supported to attend relevant training and will have an opportunity to learn from experienced advice workers who have an in-depth knowledge of refugee issues and relevant legislation.

RAK celebrated its 25th anniversary last year as a Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames based charity working to assist refugees and asylum seekers. The charity provides a range of services, including advice and advocacy, a Learning Centre for English language and practical skills, and a specialist career advice project for refugees.
