Reem’s story
Reem and her sister Ahlam were both brought to the UK via Family Reunion, facilitated by a Refugee Action Kingston solicitor on their father’s behalf. Prior to that, they had been living under very difficult conditions in the West Bank of Palestine. They were finally re-united with their father in September 2020. Upon arrival, they received introductory support from our team to help prepare them for their new life in Kingston. We provided legal support, registered them with the local college to catch up on missed education, and connected them with cycling lessons to improve their mobility.
They are now studying for their GCSEs and enjoy Maths, English, and Citizenship. Anwar, the girls’ father, hopes to open a food business to provide them with a self-sufficient future.
