Rim’s story
Rim is a Syrian refugee who came to the UK in 2019 under Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (VPRS).
Rim fled Syria with her family in 2014, to Lebanon and lived there for four years. In Syria, Rim finished her high-school education, and she was hoping to study nursing before war invaded her life and changed it forever.
Today, Rim hopes to open her own business. She is passionate about hairdressing, but is also working hard to achieve her dream of becoming a nurse.
Rim shares that she has received enormous support from Refugee Action Kingston for English classes, housing, and befriending. Rim has also volunteered with us, and she thinks that her English was ‘’very poor’’ but volunteering has provided her with the right environment to improve her English and build her confidence.
